Hill College is hosting its 13th annual Boots and Suits Gala, 6 p.m., Friday, April 20, at the Cleburne Conference Center. In addition, Hill College will honor Lorri Dyess with the Pillar of the Community Award for Burleson. The award recognizes those who have helped build and sustain Hill and Johnson counties and supported the growth of Hill College throughout Hillsboro, Cleburne and Burleson areas.

Lorri Dyess, a native Texan, has always been a leader and very driven, fully immersing herself into anything she takes on. One of her deepest passions is the Burleson Opportunity Fund (BOF), created to provide Burleson ISD graduates greater access to post-secondary education. She has served on the Board for six years, spending countless hours recruiting sponsorships, making phone calls, and managing logistics in support of the mission, helping to raise over $1.2 million for Hill College scholarships.

She has organized and led fundraising events for Boy Scouts of America, United Way, an “Honoring Heroes” event for the anniversary of 9/11 to honor First Responders in the community, the Brazos Chamber Orchestra fundraising event and The Women’s Symposium for “Women in New Roles” at Tarrant County College.

Dyess’ personal mission statement is “Joyful living comes from the constant practice of doing a little extra.”  Wherever she plants her energy, her drive and her passion, her community undoubtedly benefits.

Dyess is a real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty, she is one of the top producing agents in our community. Dyess lives in Burleson with her husband Dean. They are devoted parents and grandparents to their two daughters and three grandchildren.

The Boots and Suits Gala will feature a live and silent auction, hors d'oeuvres provided by the Cleburne ISD culinary department, dinner by Flores BBQ of Whitney, bar service by West End Grill of Cleburne, dancing and live entertainment. This night of celebrating higher education and philanthropy will benefit the Hill College Testing Centers, the softball team and district-wide student scholarships for the coming academic year. Will and Betty Lowrance of Hillsboro and Howard Dudley of Cleburne will also be honored with Pillar of the Community Awards.

Community support of the Boots and Suits Gala allows Hill College to strengthen its ability to lead students toward success. Each year, Hill College serves over 6,000 students as they each make the choice to advance their education through one of our academic, technical or continuing education programs.

Individual tickets to the Hill College Boots and Suits Gala are $75 per person, while tables start at $600. For more information about the Gala, or to purchase tickets online, please visit www.hillcollege.edu/boots, or contact Preston McReynolds, director of development, at pmcreynolds@hillcollege.edu.
